Hosts and access paths

Updated on 2026-09-26

A host of the Parc can have several access paths: the LAN address, an mDNS name, a Tailscale address, a public address, a Konsolity relay. The first of the list is the primary path.

The race

On every attempt the direct paths start staggered (250 ms), each limited to 1.5 s when there are several; the relay path starts 300 ms later, or as soon as every direct path has failed. The first to answer carries the session, the others are ignored.

On mobile data alone, LAN addresses (10/8, 172.16/12, 192.168/16, .local) are skipped when a relay exists.

Force a path

Host menu or tab ⋯ menu › Connect via…: only that path is tried, no fallback, until “Automatic”. Forcing a path on a connected session cuts the transport and reconnects at once through the chosen path; the buffer is kept.

Host key

The same key is required on every path: it is the same server behind. A fingerprint different from the pinned one is a changed key: stop, alert, date of the previous one, never an automatic acceptance.

Live progress

During the connection a card above the terminal lists the paths of the round, their state (waiting, trying, answers in x s, failed and why), then the SSH stages. You see what blocks.
