Getting started
Konsolity is an SSH client that keeps your session when the network drops. This page takes you from installation to the first connection.
Install
Download the build for your platform at konsolity.com/en/download: a DMG on macOS, an installer on Windows, an archive on Linux (install.sh installs under ~/.local/opt without root), the App Store and Google Play on mobile.
The vault
On first launch Konsolity creates an encrypted vault on the device. Three choices:
- Continue without an account: everything works locally, unlimited hosts, nothing leaves the device.
- Create an account: e-mail, master password, verification code. A 14-day trial with every Studio right starts, no card. A recovery key is shown once: write it down, it alone recovers the vault if the password is lost.
- Sign in: the vault of your account is synced to this device.
The master password never leaves the device: the server receives a fingerprint to recognise you, never the password nor the encryption key.
First host
Parc › New host: a label, an address, a port, a user, then an identity (password or key). A key can be imported (OpenSSH) or generated in the keychain, then installed on the server with “Install public key”.
Connect
Cmd+K, the first letters of the name, Enter. Or user@host:port straight in the palette for a quick connection. On the first connection Konsolity shows the host key fingerprint and asks you to accept it: it is then pinned.
